Volkswagen recently recalled several 2009 & 2010 Audi/Volkswagen models. Specifically, the Audi A3, Audi TT Roadster, Volkswagen EOS and GTI, and the Volkswagen Jetta & Jetta Sportswagen. The company apparently is having problems with the wiring harness of a temperature sensor. The sensor may falsely detect a problem with the gearbox oil temperature which could cause the transmission to shift to neutral possibly leading to a crash. Volkswagen in the process of notifying owners, but you may wish to contact your local dealership.
For something which may affect the professional or employee, OfficeMax is recalling 216,000 chairs because the back and base post could break causing the consumer to fall and suffer injury. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, they have received 35 reports of such incidents, with 15 resulting in injury, including cuts, bruises and concussions.
Last, but definitely not least, those pesky blinds and shades are causing serious problems again. More than 5.5 million blinds and shades have been recalled by several companies following the deaths of 3 children. The shades were sold at IKEA, Pottery Barn Kids, Target and other major retailers nationwide. The details of the recall include 4.8 million Lewis Hyman roll-up blinds and Roman shades which were sold at various retailers between 1999 and 2003, at Target from March 2006 to December 2008. The recall also includes 245,000 Luttron roller shades sold at Expo Design Center; 163,000 Victoria Classics Roman shades sold at Target; 120,000 IKEA Roman shades sold at IKEA; 85,000 Pottery Barn Kids Roman shades sold through Pottery Barn Kids; and 32,600 Vertical Land blinds and shades sold at Vertical Land stores. According to the CPSC, one child per month dies after becoming entangled in the cord of window blinds. It is recommended you stop using the blinds and either repair or replace them.
