End the Year Right…Volunteer!

The year is coming to an end and many folks are looking forward to 2009. With all the common stressors associated with the Holiday season, plus the nation’s economic turmoil which continues to make us all somewhat uneasy, it is essential that we have a plan to get through the Holiday season stress-free.

Happiness can be found in many ways, but certainly giving of oneself with time or deeds is a fail safe method of achieving personal satisfaction…Volunteer! There are numerous opportunities in the Houston area to volunteer and help others in need during the Holiday season. Many folks do good between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but most disappear the week after Christmas. So find a charity, a homeless shelter, a halfway house, senior centers, a food pantry, or call the Houston Bar Association and inquire on how one can volunteer. It is still very cold after Christmas and people are still hungry and in need. Together, we can make a difference in someone’s life and by doing so, end the year right.

From all of us at Abraham Watkins, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
