Putting the Brakes on Unsafe Trucking Companies

There is a relatively new organization whose sole focus is on making the trucking industry safer for the highways across America. The Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America (AITL America) was founded last year by a victim of a severe trucking accident whose goal is to help eliminate unsafe and illegal interstate trucking practices. Each member of the organization pledges to work aggressively within the law through learning, legislation and litigation to achieve their mission of dramatically reducing the number of traffic accidents, injuries and deaths across America that are caused by those trucking companies who have unsafe practices.

The organization's research finds that each year nearly 5,000 men, women and children are killed on US highways in crashes with big trucks, while over 110,000 are injured annually. Education is the first line of attack in trying to reduce these staggering numbers, and AITL America hopes to bring about change by educating the general public, legislators, truck lines, truck drivers, lawyers, judges and juries about the hard facts surrounding common unsafe or illegal trucking practices.

The National Advisory Board of the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America consists of only 100 lawyers from across the country, and it is their job to provide innovative guidance and counsel in the methods necessary to achieve a safer highway system. Membership is by invitation only and I was recently invited (and accepted) to become a National Advisory Board member. Our firm has far too often seen the trucking tragedies and wrongful deaths that devastate families and destroy lives, and I hope this organization will save lives and make our national roadways a safer place to travel.
