FOREIGN NATIONALS KILLED IN LIBYAN PLANE CRASH

Photo of Muhammad Aziz

The Airbus aircraft was carrying passengers home to Europe from South Africa and most of those who were killed came from Holland.
Just one passenger, a 10-year-old Dutch boy, survived when the plane tried to land and broke up as it hit a field alongside the airport.

The majority of those killed were 61 Dutch who were part of two tour groups run by the Dutch operators Stip Reizen and Kras.
The Airbus 330-200, the same as the Air France jet that crashed into the Pacific on a flight from Brazil last year, was operated by Afriqiyah Airways, a Libyan state-owned low-cost operator.

The firm specializes in handling aviation disasters and similar catastrophic accidents.
