(Houston, Texas) October 5 - The National Football League (NFL) has teamed up with Bud Light to launch the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards. This Sunday, October 9, the NFL is celebrating 2011 Hispanic Heritage Day.
As part of the celebration, each of the 32 football teams is recognizing one member of the community for his or her positive impact on the local Hispanic population. The Hispanic Heritage Awards honor notable Latinos who have not only distinguished themselves in their field, but have also made an impact on America.
The Houston Texans have chosen to honor attorney Benny Agosto Jr. for his contributions as a leader in Houston's Hispanic community. He will take the field during this Sunday's game for the presentation of his award.
Benny Agosto Jr. is a partner at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz in Houston, Texas. Just last month, Benny was named president of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA). He is the first attorney in Texas to hold this leadership position and has been involved in the HNBA for many years.
Dedicated to the Hispanic community, Benny has worked to expand educational opportunities for minority students. He founded the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas (MABATx) Foundation and co-founded the HNBA's Legal Education Fund - both 501(c)(3) organizations that raise scholarship money for minority students.
Each recipient of an NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award gets to choose a charity to receive a $2,000 donation from the NFL and Bud Light. Benny has chosen the MABATx Foundation.
With the other partners of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz, Benny advocates for the rights of catastrophically injured clients in personal injury matters involving motor vehicle accidents, workplace incidents and defective products as well as other types of personal injury cases.
