Houston Attorney Jay Jackson Receives Franklin Jones Best CLE Article Award From Texas Bar College

Attorney Jay Jackson wins award(HOUSTON, TEXAS) Attorney Jay Jackson of the Houston law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz received the Franklin Jones Best CLE Article Award on July 17, 2015. Mr. Jackson received the award at the Texas Bar College's 17 th Annual Summer School Course in Galveston for his article "Texas Supreme Court Update" that he presented at the Advanced Personal Injury Law Course in 2014.

The College of the State Bar of Texas presents this award each year to acknowledge the volunteer contributions made by those who write articles for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses. It is given to the author of an outstanding CLE article presented in the previous year, and the recipient is selected based upon nominations received from State Bar Section Chairs, CLE Coordinators, and CLE Course Directors. The award is named in honor of Franklin Jones Jr., a co-founder of the Texas Bar College.

For over seven years, Mr. Jackson has presented this paper, which analyzes every opinion handed down by the Texas Supreme Court in the previous twelve to sixteen months, multiple times annually at CLE courses throughout the state. His current "Texas Supreme Court Update" marks his eleventh paper to author. Mr. Jackson has also spoken at numerous CLE courses on evidence and discovery, auto collisions, liability, law for animal rescue organizations, real estate, civil appeals, and trucking accidents. In 2011, the State Bar of Texas honored Mr. Jackson with the Standing Ovation Award for his outstanding volunteer contributions to the State Bar's continuing legal education program.

Mr. Jackson is a member of local and state bar associations, and, in addition to his annual update, he has written on topics such as attorneys' fees, enforcement of settlement agreements, and the prosecution's viewpoint of DWI cases for organizations including the Houston Bar Association, the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, and the Harris County Civil Judicial Education Conference. Mr. Jackson has also been named to the Texas Super Lawyers list annually since 2012, as well as to the Top Lawyers list for Personal Injury in the Houstonia magazine since 2013.

Mr. Jackson has been board certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1992. His practice focuses on serious personal injury and wrongful death matters, including those that involve truck crashes, workplace injuries, maritime claims, and railroad accidents.
