I am known in the legal community as an experienced trial and appellate attorney. I have handled a wide variety of cases, including tort litigation, maritime and Jones Act cases, complex commercial business litigation, mass tort litigation, contractual liability litigation, and medical malpractice defense cases. I also have extensive appellate litigation experience. I practice in both State and all Texas Federal Courts and I am licensed in the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth Circuit.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Insurance Defense -- Handled all aspects, including products liability, premises liability claims, other general negligence claims, Maritime and Jones Act litigation and appellate litigation.

Commercial Litigation -- Handled complex commercial business litigation cases. Represented the nation’s largest provider of hospital management services in an arbitration wherein the allegations against the company include misrepresentation, mismanagement, neglect, and breach of fiduciary duty in its management and supervision of a hospital. Represented the same provider of hospital management services in a complex litigation involving allegations of breach of contract, tortuous interference with a contractual relationship, civil conspiracy, intentional infliction of emotion distress, intentional misrepresentation, gross negligence, negligent hiring practices, libel, and slander.

Mass Tort Litigation -- Handled a defense mass tort asbestos litigation docket, a breast implant docket which had more than 400 domestic and foreign plaintiffs and a plaintiff’s docket representing over 2500 clients who took psychotic medications and who sustained an injury where I managed a staff of 20 employees.

Product Liability -- Handled all litigation against a manufacturer or seller for recovery of damages arising out of personal injury, death or property damage caused by a defective product.

Medical Malpractice -- Handled a complex docket on medical malpractice cases, including representation of doctors in various fields of expertise, hospitals, medical facilities/clinics, all types of licensed healthcare providers, dental malpractice claims and  nursing home cases.

Contractual Liability Litigation -- Handled a case against Prudential Insurance Company and Prudential Health Care Plan concerning life and health insurance and health maintenance.

Appellate Litigation -- Prepared more than 60 briefs to the Texas Court of Appeals, Writs of Mandamus, Applications for Writ of Error to the Texas Supreme Court, and Responses to Petitions for Writs of Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court; Argued orally to the Texas Court of Appeals and the Fifth Circuit; Reviewed statements of facts and transcripts of numerous trials and prepared proposed opinions as briefing attorney for the First Court of Appeals.
